Book Review: HEAR ME OUT by Lila Rose (Hawks MC: Caroline Springs Charter #5)

Hear Me Out
Series: Hawks MC: Caroline Springs Charter #5
Author: Lila Rose
Genre: M/M MC Romance
Release: August 8, 2017

Blurb
Fear keeps the truth away from his brothers. Fear and pain keeps him away from the man he loves.

Hawks MC member Maddox “Beast” Lawson had a difficult time growing up. Tired of being ridiculed because of his effed-up brain-to-mouth connection, it was easier to say nothing at all. Living in silence worked out just fine until that b*tch called Fate took his hearing, not only that, but she also threw him into the arms of the man who refuses to acknowledge that one hot night they shared.

Jay Conger, Knife to his brothers, loves p*ssy. Licking, fingering, screwing, he’ll take it any way it’s offered. After one surprising night with Beast, to say he’s freaked out is an understatement. Hell, even bananas have taken on a new meaning, and thinking about a certain someone’s body is too much. Unable to think straight, Knife is at an impasse, not only with his traitorous desire but with his heart.

Both lives are going to change. Only will it be for the better?

Carra's Review

Okay, so I’ll admit that I normally don’t read MC romance—it’s just not something I’m drawn to at all.  But when it’s M/M MC romance…well now that piques my interest to see just how it will play out in the uber-alpha setting, and how all of the characters will react.  Hear Me Out took a genre I don’t typically care for and made it not just palatable, but at times downright hysterical.

I loved both Beast and Knife’s characters; particularly Beast since my sympathy levels shot straight up at the situation in which he found himself with his hearing loss.  He’s a character that it is very easy to care for, and I really wanted him to wind up with his happily ever after.  Knife is a tougher nut to crack, he’s so determined to put up the front that he only wants women yet cannot explain his full-on attraction to Beast.

If the two of these alpha males with their own issues trying to find their way while also circling around each other isn’t enough, another kink is thrown into the mix when someone from Knife’s past shows up—and is there to stay permanently.  It brings up an interesting complication to both Knife and Beast’s lives, though not necessarily one that they don’t want.  Yep, I know that’s a bit vague but since it’s not in the blurb, you’ll have to deal with my teasing (just read it!).

There’s some extra drama thanks to Knife’s father…which honestly could have been left out of the story and it wouldn’t have really made a difference to me.  Oh, and let us not forget some competition for Beast’s affection from a couple of other guys.  Just in case you might think there’s not enough to keep your attention…yeah, don’t worry about that.  And remember I said hysterical?  There were several times I was laughing out loud at the things going on (just wait for Knife’s scene at the salon), which I was not expecting at all with an MC romance.

All in all this was a great read, and I’m giving it 4.5 stars.  I’d definitely recommend it whether you like MC romance or just plain old M/M contemporary romance—you’re going to get a little sweet mixed with a little violence, but it will all be enjoyable in the end.  This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language, some scenes of violence, and sexual content.
